The Busselton Festival of Triathlon comprises a series of 3 day events culminating in the SunSmart Ironman 70.3 Triathlon on the first weekend in May 2015. The Busselton Festival of Triathlon is the largest event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. Set in the South West Coastal town of Busselton, this has to be on your to-do list. This is the perfect location to set a PB and have a holiday at the same time!

In lead up to the festival, professional athletes travelling from all around the country will impart some of their esteemed knowledge and skills to local coaches, schools and triathletes.

Friday afternoon is host to the Village Expo opening at 2pm exhibiting local and national retailers’. Athlete check-in for participants commences between 2pm – 5pm

As the sun rises on Saturday morning there are numerous activities for all the community, friends, family and athletes to take part in. The inaugural 2015 Fun Run will take place at 7:30am. The 2.5km and 5k event will attract people of all fitness levels and abilities. The SunSmart Kids Triathlon, which forms part of the triathlon calendar for many of the local and visiting children kicks off at 9:00am. At noon the Open Water Swim will take place in the crystal clear waters of Geographe Bay. The 1km or 500m splash is open for all abilities from recreational swimmers to Ironman athletes. Sunday is race day for the Ironman 70.3 and Teams event. This event itself has 3500 competitors taking part in the 1.9km Swim, 90.1km cycle and 21.1km run. Participants can take part in the event as an individual or as a team. Swim in the crystal clear waters of Geographe Bay, ride through the beautiful Tuart Forrest and run along the foreshore in the largest IRONMAN 70.3 in Australia. Over 20,000 spectators come out to support all the athletes on course. The festival continues after the main event on Sunday evening with the Medal Ceremony and athlete dinner. Friends, family, athletes and the local community are invited back to Barnard Park where food stalls and entertainment is available until 9pm.  This is a great opportunity to sit back and relax with your team to relive the events and achievements over the weekend.

In 2015 the festival brought more than 20,000 spectators and over 3200 athletes to the seaside town of Busselton for a weekend of exciting racing and community engagement.  The Busselton Festival of Triathlon is the largest event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere.
