Wibowo (IDN), Szeto (HKG) Win Enduro Titles of Bintan Triathlon
The return of the sport of triathlon in the exotic tourism hub of Bintan Island of the Riau archipelago of Indonesia served as the main backdrop as Indonesia’s most famous triathlete Andy Wibowo was the first to cross the finish line of the Enduro category of Bintan Triathlon by TriFactor. Hong Kong’s Leanne Szeto was the first female finisher of the Enduro category as more than 500 triathletes competed amidst the hot conditions in Plaza Lagoi of Bintan Resorts.
In the 1.5km-80km bike and 20km run Enduro category, Wibowo was the first man out of the water at 21:45 and also pedalled his way to a race-best 2:12:02 bike leg. With a huge T2 lead and an injured wrist in a bike spill, Wibowo cruised his way to a 4:03:51 finish. Assad Attamimi ran the race-best 1:19:44 to secure second place.
Szeto also led wire-to-wire to dominate the women’s category with a finish of 4:37:05. Elaine Young and Man Yung Yong secure the 2nd and 3rd place spots to complete podium.
Other overall winners are Jerko Grom (2:22:36) and Indonesia’s Dea Salsabila Putri (2:27:42) for the Olympic distance category. In the sprint distance, Yi Jun Tey and Wang Tin Lim are the overall male and female winners.
Indonesian model-actor Kelly Tandiono placed podium by grabbing the third spot in her age group in the sprint distance category. Filipina triathlete turned beauty queen Alexandra Faith Garcia competed in the Olympic Distance category and finished in 3:07:13.
