Largest Ironman 70.3 event in Southeast Asia returns to Da Nang, Vietnam for its 7th Edition
- Nearly 3,000 athletes are expected to join VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam multi-sports festival from May 6 – May 8th
- IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam celebrates its 7th edition in Da Nang and remains the largest triathlon event in Vietnam.
- Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, VinFast becomes the Naming Right Partner of the event from 2023 to 2025.
Da Nang, Vietnam, May 5th, 2023 – VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 Viet Nam, organized by Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) in collaboration with the Department of Culture & Sports of Danang City, will take place from May 4th to 7th, 2023. With an estimated participation of nearly 3,000 athletes across four events including IRONMAN 70.3, Sunrise Sprint, IRONKIDS, and Newborns Vietnam Runout events, the multi-sports festival promises to deliver an exciting, memorable and action-packed competition weekend.
The picturesque venue for the race is the Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in Da Nang City, which offers a beautiful white sand beach and a rich historical and cultural backdrop, creating an ideal setting for athletes and spectators alike.
A highlight of this year’s event is new partnership with VinFast who comes on as Naming Rights Partner for the event for the next three years, from 2023 to 2025. This partnership aligns with VinFast’s global collaboration with the IRONMAN Group to promote a green and sustainable lifestyle within the endurance racing community. Through this global partnership, the profile and popularity of the Vietnamese race is expected to soar.
Making its seventh appearance in Da Nang, Vietnam’s triathlon mecca, this multisports event continues to set new records in terms of participation. Vietnamese participation continues to grow with a record of over 1,220 registered. They will be joined by nearly 1,000 international athletes from 62 countries. The event also boasts the presence of 77 All World Athletes (AWA), including 8 AWA Gold athletes who rank in the top 2% of their age group globally.
This year, Sunrise Event Vietnam has set its sights on expanding the IRONMAN 70.3 format in the Vietnam market. The organization has received support and agreement from key stakeholders in Kien Giang province and IRONMAN Group to move the 70.3-mile distance from the Olympic distance format featured at the inaugural 5150 Triathlon event last November.
