Filipino Athletes Big Winners at 2022 TriFactor Dong Nai-Vietnam

-2-Time SEAG Gold Medalist Nikko Huelgas Wins the Standard Distance Competition after fending off two Vietnamese Elite

– Raymund Torio and Rhia Stawicki Win the Enduro Distance Competition (1.5km swim-80km bike-20km run)

-Nguyễn Anh Trí bags the Duathlon title, after beating two Filipino male elites

14 August, Dong Nai-  2015 and 2017 SEAG Gold Medalist in Triathlon Nikko Huelgas of the Philippines showed veteran composure with a come from behind win in the elite competition in the 2022 TriFactor Dong Nai-Vietnam.

After trailing Viet Lam Quang Nhat in the swim leg by 2 minutes and 55 seconds and losing another 40 seconds on the bike leg, Huelgas used the magic of his race-best 39:26 10k run split to win the standard distance competition in 2:14:41.   Nhat finished second with a finish time of 2:16:37.

Raymund Torio and Rhia Stawicki, both from the Philippines ruled the Enduro Distance competion.  Torio finished with a time of 4:14:03.   Torio had the day’s best run of 1:25:17 in a time when early morning showers had ended and the sun blasted the run course.

Stawicki dominated the women’s open category, finishing with a time of 4:42:04 and just missed by 1 spot the overall top 3 finishers list.

In the duathlon competition, Vietnam continues to their SEAG dominance in Duathlon when Nguyễn Anh Trí (2:02:02) beat out Filipino John Patrick Ciron by 1 minute and two seconds.  Tri had the day’s best first and second run splits to compensate for Ciron’s strength in the bike.  Filipina Elaine Yasay Quismundo won the women’s open category, finishing with a time of 2:37:41.
