Lucosz (CZE), Santiago (PHI) Rule 2022 Ironman Philippines after Two-year Pandemic Absence

On the advent of the simmering Philippine summer in Subic Bay, Petr Lukosz of Czech Republic and Ines Santiago of the Philippines won over-all top age-groupers honours in Ironman Philippines.

Lukosz, who also won top age-grouper when Ironman Philippines was last held in 2018, finished with an overall time of 9 hour 42 minutes and 34 seconds.

Ines Santiago stamps her claim as the country’s top age grouper with a finish time of 12 hours 13 minutes and 27 seconds.

The first Filipino male finisher is Jethro Ramos who finished with a time of 10:39:48.

Men’s Race

Lukosz used the strength of his phenomenal bike and run splits to dominate the race by 47 minutes.   His 5:03:02 bike split and 3:38:06 run split were both race best.

Top swimmer honors belong to Ronald Molit who swam the 3.8km swim course in 59 minutes and 40 seconds.

Finishing rd overall and winner of the 45-49 age group is Thomas Nteliopoulos of Greece.  Thomas’s finishing time is 10:55:25.

 

Women’s Race

Santiago meanwhile capitalized on his women’s best 1:11:30 swim split and 6:14:15 bike split to lead the race wire-to-wire.  Her winning margin over 2nd place winner Mary Jane Baluyot is 1 hour and 33 seconds.  Marissa Cayowet completes Top Overall podium with a 3rd place finish of 13 hours and 21 minutes and 9 seconds.
