Philippine Athletes Dominate Singapore’s Biggest Triathlon Event

2017 SEA Games runner up, John Chicano flashed superb form and dominated the standard distance triathlon while Juan Carlos Abad held off Singapore National Athletes Nicholas Rachmadi and Luke Chua in the sprint distance as they shared top honors in the TRI-Factor Asian Championship Series at the East Coast Park this morning July 29, 2018.
Chicano clocked 2:02:29 to rule the grueling 1.5km swim, 36km bike, 10km run event, beating Singapore National Athlete Cedric Chua (2:07:48) by more than five minutes while Malaysian Triathlete Mr Ryan Tan timed 2:10:37 to place third overall in the event, novel triathlon event which featured a four-leg mass participation series composed of individual swim, bike and run events and a finale triathlon.
More than 1800 athletes took part in the event that includes ex-Minister of State, Mr Teo Ser Luck who completed his long distance triathlon of 2.25km Swim , 42km bike and 15km run at at time of 3 hours 56 minutes 21 seconds while Singapore opposition party leader of Singapore Democratic Party leader Mr Chee Soon Juan race the sprint veteran category with a time of 1 hour 41 minutes and 20 seconds.
“I’m really proud to celebrate our 10th year of TRI-Factor this event and please to share that we had brought this Singapore brand event across Asia Pacific including China. ” said Elvin Ting, manager director of organizing Orange Room Pte Ltd.
TRI-Factor Asian Championship series celebrates their 10th year doing four-leg mass participating series in a number of countries across Asia such as Malaysia, China, Indonesia and Thailand.
The next TRI-Factor series will be in China on October 21, 2018.
