Andrew Starykowicz (USA) and Lisa Roberts (USA) Claim Victories At 2017 Ironman Louisville
Louisville provided a beautiful backdrop for athletes from around the world today at the 2017 IRONMAN® Louisville triathlon presented by Norton Sports Health. Andrew Starykowicz (USA) and Lisa Roberts (USA) took the top honors with finishing times of 8:10:11 and 9:06:06, respectively.
Callum Millward (NZL) finished in second place for the men with a time of 8:18:03 while Markus Thomschke (DEU) rounded out the podium in third with a time of 8:21:05, respectively. On the women’s side, Lesley Smith (USA) finished second with a time of 9:23:35 and Nicole Valentine (USA) finished third with a total time of 9:25:55.

The 2017 IRONMAN Louisville triathlon presented by Norton Sports Health saw more than 2,400 athletes representing 30 countries and 46 states start the race. Competitors ranged in age from 18–77 years old. One of more than 40 events in the global IRONMAN Series, the IRONMAN Louisville triathlon presented by Norton Sports Health led athletes along a 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike and 26.2-mile run throughout Louisville and its surrounding areas. The point-to-point swim took place in the Ohio River, while the bike course took the athletes outside of Louisville toward Oldham and Henry counties and included a two-loop section through the historic town of LaGrange. The two-loop run course was flat and fast and passed many of Louisville sites including the University of Louisville campus and Churchill Downs before an electric finish at Fourth Street Live! in downtown Louisville. The event offered a total professional prize purse of $40,000 and 40 coveted age group qualifying slots to the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship, taking place on October 13 in Kailua Kona, Hawai`i.
