Ironman Gurye, Korea Race Preview

Around 1650 athletes will toe the start line in Ironman Gurye in Korea on Sunday, September 10.  Twenty one countries are represented with the host nation having the most participants at 1075.  Take a look at the breakdown of all delegetions below:

This will be an age-group only race, and IRONMAN Gurye, Korea will offer 30 qualifying age group slots for the 2018 IRONMAN World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

Race day weather is expected to be partly cloudy with highs in 29 degrees C. and lows 19 degrees C.

1665 / John Wragg (67, CAN) has completed his 223th IM and our Gurye event would be his 224th.
He has already picked up a Kona slot for this October. IRONMAN royalty. Has completed every IRONMAN event on the world circuit at least once – http://www.triathlete.com/2017/08/ironman/4-athletes-done-every-ironman-planet. His wife Elizabeth Model is also racing

201 / Mats Allen (23, US), Son of Ironman legends Mark Allen and Julie Moss making his IM debut in Gurye. Julie Moss is here already in Gurye to cheer him on.

192 / Thomas Frühwirth (36, Austria) HC division. Silver medal winner at 2016 paralympics (Individual time trial)

191 / Dae-young Kim(56, Korean) PC division, double arm amputee, a regular at our event but it’ll be his first IM challenge.
