IRONMAN today announced the launch of IRONMAN CoachMatch™, a free service for athletes seeking a coach to help them meet their specific training and race goals. IRONMAN CoachMatch utilizes IRONMAN Certified Coaches who are uniquely qualified to coach endurance athletes. This innovative online tool gives athletes access to coaches from more than 65 countries based on a variety of factors – from experience, qualifications and philosophy, to specialization, availability and location. Athletes can find their perfect coach by identifying their specific needs through a series of questions about what they are looking for in a coach.
“Given that athletes train an average of six to nine months to prepare for an IRONMAN event while also balancing work, family, and other obligations, it is increasingly important to hire the right coach who can meet their specific needs,” said Andrew Messick, Chief Executive Officer for IRONMAN. “In a recent survey of IRONMAN® and IRONMAN® 70.3® athletes, it was found that athletes were two times more likely to be satisfied with their race performance if they hired a coach.”
“If you want to maximize your chance of having your best day, on what could be one of the most memorable days of your life, you should hire a coach,” said Paula Newby-Fraser, eight-time IRONMAN World Champion and IRONMAN U Master Coach.
To celebrate the launch of IRONMAN CoachMatch, athletes who use the service will automatically be entered into a sweepstakes for a chance to race IRONMAN events free for an entire year. Additional information for entry into this sweepstakes can be found athttp://university.ironman.com/content/CoachMatchSweepstakes.
