With the first semester almost over, it’s now time to plan your races for the second semester of 2015.
AsiaTRI compiled the list and information of the best triathlon events that will take place on the second half of this year.

1) Bangkok Triathlon – Thailand Tri-League

The traditional Bangkok Triathlon is now back after its 2014 edition was cancelled due to the coup. This year the event however is part of the Thailand Tri-League, the 4 races series that put the Thailand on the map of the most lucrative short course races in Asia, offering a total of 90k USD total prize purse.
The new organizers promises a unique experience to the athletes with a course that combines swimming in the Chao Phraya river through some of Bangkok’s most famous temples, riding on the city’s express way highway, then running through tight alleys of Bangkok’s old town.
The event is backed up by Sportsmaster, an event organizer company that has experience in putting together big sports events, concert and festivals with up to one million participants. You can expect a great show on July 4th!
2) Ironman 70.3 Cebu, Philippines

Considered by many “The Best race in Asia”, the Cobra Ironman 70.3 in Cebu is certainly one of the most popular, with 2500 slots sold out in 40 minutes and has over 500 people in the waiting list. But what attracts so many people?
The top of the list is the experienced team of Sunrise events who is in charge of all ironman events in the Philippines and Ironman 70.3 Vietnam, Sunrise knows how to put on a show and offer the best treatment to the athletes. Then you have the venue, crystal clear waters of Shangri-la Mactan Resort and Spa at the historic City of Lapu Lapu, and thousands of supportive spectators on the bike and run course.
Among the Filipinos this event is the peak race of the year, it also attracts several foreigners with 45 countries represented in the past edition among them superstars such as F-1 driver Jenson Button and Apl de Ap of the Black Eyed Peas.

3) Ironman 70.3 Bintan

This year we are seeing the inaugural Ironman 70.3 in Bintan, a paradise like island in Indonesia only 45 minutes from Singapore. While being the inaugural event, you can expect a well ran event since the race will be organized by metasport, the same team that created Metaman Bintan, a full ironman distance and a half ironman distance also on Bintan island. Metaman is now Ironman 70.3!
One of the selling points of this race is the combination of racing a world class event in paradise with the convenience of the Singapore International airport not far away. From the airport you can easily reach the pier and take the quick ferry to Bintan.

4) Bali Triathlon

Held on the Jimbaran beach for the past several years, the Bali Triathlon is becoming more and more popular as a destination race for both Asia and Australia based triathletes.
This year’s running of the race will see traffic pressures greatly reduced through the opening of the Bali Mandara Toll Way that offers an alternative routing around the main race corridor. Closer cooperation with the Bali Police, Badung Regency and the active participation of the Banjars in South Bali will go a long way to ensuring racers along the cycling and foot race routes are not unduly impeded.
5) Challenge Taiwan

On its third edition, Challenge Taiwan this year will also be the Challenge Family Asian Age Group Championships,The Asian Championships will apply to Challenge Taiwan full distance and separately a points system incorporating Challenge Family half distances races in Asia.
The change on this year event was separating the half distance event which was held in April, from the full. The organizers also added the option of the Tri.Asia, an olympic distance series held on the same day and venue of the event.
6) 5i50 Triathlon Bohol

The Safeguard Active 5150 Triathlon, one of the Philippines’ local version of the world’s largest Olympic distance triathlon series.
Happening in the scenic and serene Panglao Island in Bohol, the Safeguard Active 5150 Triathlon race proved to be the best triathlon season-ender race in the country.
With its third edition happening in November, the race will take beginning triathletes on a race course that is quite challenging, one that they will surely consider as a chance to level-up and an accomplishment to strike-out of their bucket list. For the seasoned athletes, this is an absolute venue to set new personal best records and another world class race conquered on their race calendar. The Safeguard Active 5i50 Triathlon is the perfect race event to usher in the much-deserved triathlon off-season.
7) Ironman Langkawi

Ironman Langkawi was back in 2014 after a few years off the calendar, the race was held in September and provided the athletes a great course and the opportunity to race an Ironman in a very convenient location since the hosting venue is only a twenty minute drive from the Langkawi airport.
This year the event will be in November, and that should see the temperature dropping a few degrees, you should still expect very high temperatures and a very challenging bike course that has a bit of it all, long and steep hills, flat sections and technical parts. 8) Bataan International Triathlon: The Ultimate Eco-Heritage Triathlon Festival

9) Laguna Phuket Triathlon

The Laguna Phuket Triathlon is one of the most popular event among triathletes from all over Asia. Accessed through direct flights that are less than a couple of hours away from several main cities in Asia, this event provides a challenging and fun course, superb accommodation and a breathtaking venue.

The younger sister race of the traditional Laguna Phuket Triathlon, Challenge Laguna Phuket was first an Ironman 70.3 event back in 2010 but in 2013 the race became Challenge Phuket. This has added spice to the event as now beginners can step up and try the half ironman distance and performance athletes can get their PB’s.
